Annual Report of SNTMF 2006-07


Annual meeting of the Foundation was held on January 14, 2007. The activities of the year 2006 were discussed. On January 14th 2006, the foundation observed the 74th birth day of late Prof SN Tripathi and on that occasion a seminar was organized on standard procedures for the cultivation of Medicinal plants. More than 200 people attended the seminar. Prof JK Ojha, Formerly Dean of the Faculty of Ayurveda, presided the function and Prof BD Tripathi, dept of Botany was the Chief Guest. Other speakers were Dr. Y.B. Tripathi, Medicinal Chemistry; Prof BN Upadhyay, Kayachikitsa; Dr.

On 29th June, 2005, a health camp was organized for senior citizens at 1, Gandhi Nagar, Naria Varanasi. Dr VK Singh conducted he camp along with his team of doctors. About 40 people above the age of 60 attended the camp.

On September 5th, a meeting of citizens of Varanasi was organized to debate on the issue related to protect the cultural heritage of Varanasi and to associate it with the health up-lift. The meeting was convened by Dr Vachaspati Tripathi, and Prof RG Singh, Det of Nephrology, IMS, BHU was the chief guest. Many social workers, religious people, educationists, journalists, industrialists and NGO chiefs attended the meeting.


The R and D center of the Foundation conducted a 4 days practical training workshop for the BSc and MSc students of Biochemistry and Biotechnology on October 12-15, 2006. It was supported by CSIR and other private organization. 20 people attended the workshop from all over the country (Separate report attached).

A press conference as convened at Press Club of India, New Delhi to bring awareness about establishing the “Herbal Industry Board/Commission” by the Govt of India to promote the export of herbal drug and food products. Prof YB Tripathi and Dr Vachaspati Tripathi addressed the press conference and many journalists and media people of Delhi region attended it.

All the 24 issues of the Health news letter of the Foundation that is Ayurvigyan Bulletin (RNI Reg No. UPBIL/2001/6057) was published and distributed on the scheduled dates.

An ayurvedic hospital run by the Foundation, was maintained. Dr. VK Singh, superintendent of the hospital regularly ran the OPD and distributed free medicines to some of the needy poor persons.

On December 25th, a camp was organized in Misirpura village of Chandauli District and the renowned agriculture experts addressed the farmers. They raised several questions are agriculture related problems and these experts provided suitable solutions.
Following decisions were taken for the year 2007.

  1. It was decided to bring out vigyan rath to bring awareness about the cultivation, harvesting, storage and processing of herbal drugs, GMP of herbal food and drug and marketing and export of these products. It was also decided to bring forward the environmental and ethical issues related to this industry.
  2. It was further decided to have another workshop for drug standardization and biotechnological advances in the field of herbal drug and food processing.

Annual Report of SNTMF 2005


Annual meeting of the Foundation was held on January 14, 2006. The activities of the year 2005 were discussed. On January 14th 2005, the foundation observed the 73rd birth day of late Prof SN Tripathi and on that occasion a seminar was organized on Osteoporosis. More than 200 people attended the seminar. Prof JK Ojha, Formerly Dean of the Faculty of Ayurveda, presided the finction. Prof JK Agrawal, formerly medical Supprentendent of SS Hospital was the chief guest. Prof SK Singh, Head dept of Endocrinology,IMS, Bhu delivered the Key note address. Other speakers werer Dr. Y.B. Tripathi, Medicinal Chemistry; Prof BN Upadhyay, Kayachikitsa; Dr. GN Khare, Orthopedics; Prof RC pandey, Jyotish. On this occasion special issue of 20,000 copies Ayurvigyan bulletin was published and distributed free of cost to the people of varanasi as the part of health awareness programme of the Foundation.

Annual meeting of the Foundation was held on January 14, 2005. The activities of the year 2004 were discussed and a seminar was organized on chronic diseases on 29.06.04. Prof. S.K. Singh, Head, Department of Endocrinology, IMS, BHU delivered the keynote address covering the management of un-controlled diabetic complications. Prof. B.N. Upadhyay, Head, Department of Kayachikitsa, Faculty of Ayurveda, described about the Ayurvedic approach of diabetes management on that occasion. In the same meeting Prof. Y.B. Tripathi, Department of Medicinal Chemistry and President of the Foundation welcomed the guests and described about the molecular mechanism of diabetic complication and Role of antioxidants in their management. This was a part of Scientific advancement.

On September 13th, there was a group discussion an “how to promote and preserve the Sanatan Snskrit and to include the proposed measures in the ongoing programme of UP Tourism of Varanasi. Dr. Vachaspati Tripathi, General Secretary of the Foundation organized this works and Prof Ram Chandra Pandey, formerly Dean of the Faculty of Sanskrit Vidya & Dharma Vidya, BHU and also a renowned astrologer Varanasi, delivered the key note address. Officers of the UP tourism Department were also participated in the meeting. It was decided to make an appeal to the commissioner of Varanasi to allot a piece of land on the other side of River Ganga, in front of Rajendra Ghat where, a cultural center may be established in the name of “Sansthan Sanskrit Kendra”, which can be shown as a model to the former tourist. This was a part of preservation of our heritage.

In the month of August The Foundation welcomed Padmashree Smt Santosh Yadav the first lady of the world, who could concur the mount Everest two times. She proposed to renovate the Vishwanath gali, which lands to Kashi Vishwanath temple, and our Foundation agreed to support in her mission. Prof R.G. Singh, President of Yoga Academy, also joined in this mission. This was a part of honoring the social activists.

On October 12, 2004, a meeting was organized to discuss the export of herbal medicine. Many scientists, Ayurvedic Doctors and Chief of industrial houses related to Ayurvedic drug manufacturing, participated in the meeting. In the meeting, the issue was discussed at a great length, because India has less than 2% share of the world global market of herbal drug, as mentioned in a document, released by the planning commission, GOI. It was decided to approach to PM office (PMO) to constitute a herbal industry board as a inter-ministerial plate-form by involving Department of Science & Technology, Ministry of Industry and Ministry of Agriculture, so that a bridge between scientists, farmers and manufacturers could be established and the produce of farmers can be purchased directly by the herbal industrial houses. This will stop the exploitations of farmers by middle man. This was a part of technology management programme.

On October 26th a Kishan Goshthi (Meeting of farmers) was organized in a village Nibin Kalan. Dr. N.P. Tiwari, retired Dist Ag. Officer of UP Govt. acted as the Programme Coordinator. He along with other Ag. Scientists of BHU discussed the local problems of the farmers and also gave the scientific tips to have better yield of Rice crop.

On 4th November a group of teachers of BHU, visited a primary school in Ram laxamanpur, Gram sabha and interacted with the school children. They showed scientific models to them, with an objective to create scientific interest in the school going children and to bring scientist temper in them as a part of scientific awareness programme.

A free health camp was organized in Naria on December 25th. More than 500 people of that area attended it. This was apart of Health awareness programme

The foundation continued publishing Fortnightly Health new paper registered in the name of Ayurvigyan Bulletin. (RNI Reg No. UPBIL/2001/6057)
